Various properties along Legare and South Battery
Last Saturday’s Preservation Society Home and Garden tours took on a decidedly evil tilt, as many of the homes were decked out in their scariest decorations for All Hallows Eve. The Garden at 54 South Battery, however, was certainly not to be topped, as it possessed the single creepiest decoration I have seen outside a private residence since a Rand Paul sign in Kentucky (ZING!). From a distance, the group of 4 children sitting peacefully in a circle only looks merely out of place amidst the placid garden setting. Once you step onto the piazza from the street, however, you notice the playful children are actually seated in a strange seance of the macabre. I was genuinely creeped out by the display and I couldn’t imagine the poor older lady who had to stand facing these sinister children for 4 hours that day while reading a one liner about the wood treatment on the residence. Ghastly, on both accounts.
